Postpartum Support

As your postpartum doula, I will make sure you are well taken care of while you recover from birth and soak in those precious newborn moments. These are some of the ways I can help you:

Emotional support - listening ear, reflect on pregnancy and birth experience, provide referrals and resources for postpartum mood changes,
Newborn care - bathing, diaper changes, feeding, allow for time with older siblings, watch baby so you can shower/sleep
Feeding assistance - formula preparation, breastfeeding support, pumping, milk storage, bottle feeding
Meal prep - ingredient prep, meal assembly, cooking, clean-up, picking up groceries, postpartum nutrition
Older sibling care - teaching baby care, how to interact safely, answer questions, learn about newborns
Babywearing - try different carriers, teach you how to use your carrier, getting a proper comfy fit with newborn, go over positioning and safety
Errands
Cleaning & organizing - light housework, laundry, kitchen clean-up, help set up nursing/diaper stations, optimize baby item storage, one-time deeper clean, set up safe sleep space
Teach coping skills and help you to manage your expectations surrounding postpartum recovery and the 4th trimester

Create a birth plan

Having a list of birth preferences is a great way to prepare for your birth. The power of a birth plan isn’t the actual plan - it’s the process of becoming educated about all of your options! Then, if you have to make quick decisions during your labour and delivery, you are informed and feel confident in your choices.

Labour & Delivery

When I am on-call, I will be available to you for anything you need. We can check in during early labour, guide you through comfort measures and positioning as you progress, answer questions, be your cheerleader, talk to your partner, remind you of things we talked about in your birth plan - whatever is needed behind the scenes to give you the best experience possible!

Healing & Recovery

Once you bring your newborn home, I can help with feeding, sleep, infant care, your recovery, emotional support, and encouragement. I will check in on your well-being and mental health, and help you feel confident and comfortable in your new role. We can also review your birth and talk through anything you want to reflect on.

Babywearing

Babywearing is a useful tool for caregivers to use when trying to resolve even the smallest of issues during the day with a young child. More than just simply having at least one hand be accessible, find out tips for how to use babywearing to its full potential!
